Art and Design
‘A curriculum in Art needs sufficient continuity so that skills can be developed, refined and internalised and so become part of an expressive repertoire’ Eliot Eisner
Understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts have the power to enrich our personal and public lives. Art and Design stimulates creativity and imagination. Children use colour, form, texture, pattern and different materials and processes to communicate what they see, feel and think. Art and Design is important in its own right but also has a role to play both for the individual and in being an inherent communicative and supportive role in every curriculum area, therefore making a significant contribution to the quality of teaching and learning.
